I was introduced to Tauranga Sports by a Kiwi called Mike Rogers. Mike runs a business called ‘Inside Running’ that places players with clubs all over the wold and now runs an academy too. Tauranga remain our only club in New Zealand but we are always looking for more – if you’re out there??

Laurence already had a logo that had been professionally designed by a South African guy called John Cooper who is immensely talented and I have kept his contact in my pocket ever since. We just needed to take that, a handful of glamourous lady rugby players, the colours of the UAE flag … and make a website – easy.

Back in 2008, just as I arrived in Dubai – I had a meeting with Jill Conlon. I had spoken to Jill several times about the Dubai Exiles RFC website and I was so determined to get hold of it so it could be all that it should be, all that I knew RuckinRugby could make it – I just didn’t leave Jill alone until I got the deal.

Shortly after moving to Dubai from Saudi in 2008, I got a call from a scottish lady asking if RuckinRugby do websites for football clubs? “Well – there’s no reason why not” – said I, and so we embarked on our first RuckinRugby website for a football club – Abu Dhabi Thistle FC. ADTFC were a youth club with ages from 7, or 8 all the way up to 16 and it seemed they were a force to be reckoned with – and continue to be so. We did a redraw of their badge which had been lovingly hand drawn by their head coach Archie ….. possibly a Partick Thistle fan? I was really pleased with the way the badge came out, especially when I got single colour versions of it done – courtesy of a graphic designer back here in Devon. I used this to form the design, along with the vibrant colours that they wouldn’t shift on – but the result was fantastic and i realised that a RuckinRugby website would do for just about any sports club, it just needed a little tweak in the player profiles section and we were away. You can view the website here: abudhabithistlefc.co.uk
In time for the 2008 league registration we were up and running and fixtures, results and match reports were soon up on the website for all to see.

I spent 18 months in Dubai and whilst I was there, the Arabian Potbellies were my club and they are a truly outstanding group to train, play and party with. RuckinRugby provided their website back in the 2008 season and we have been with them ever since, now preparing for our third season together.
